Trained Modalities

I am trained in a wide range of evidence-based modalities to provide effective, personalized care for my clients. Sometimes clients search therapists with specific trainings and other times they are walking in not sure of what they want or what would be helpful. Wherever you are in your therapy journey, I am dedicated to walking along side you to work towards your goals. You can find more information about the modalities that I use below.

  • In Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT), we work together to help families rebuild trust, communication, and emotional security. By addressing the underlying attachment issues, we can create a safe and supportive environment for families to mend their bonds. This therapy is particularly effective for adolescents and their parents, providing a pathway to healing from conflicts, trauma, and emotional disconnection.

ABFT is about nurturing and strengthening these vital connections, empowering individuals to overcome obstacles, and helping families thrive. If you're seeking to rebuild and fortify your family relationships, ABFT offers a structured and evidence-based approach to guide you on your journey towards lasting, loving connections.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a practical and effective approach to therapy. It's all about understanding the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In other words, it helps us recognize how the way we think can influence how we feel and what we do.

Here's how it works: We'll work together to identify any negative or unhelpful thought patterns you may have. These thoughts can sometimes make us feel anxious, sad, or overwhelmed. Through our sessions, we'll explore these thoughts and consider if they're accurate and helpful.

Once we've identified these thought patterns, we'll learn techniques to challenge and change them. This can lead to more positive and constructive thoughts, which, in turn, can improve how you feel and how you behave in various situations.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly effective and compassionate approach designed to empower individuals with the skills they need to navigate life's challenges and enhance emotional well-being. Whether you're dealing with emotional instability, self-destructive behaviors, or overwhelming stress, DBT offers a structured and supportive path to healing and personal growth.

In DBT, we explore the dialectical balance between acceptance and change, guiding you to understand your emotions and reactions more deeply. This therapy equips you with practical tools to regulate your emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance your self-esteem. It's particularly effective for those dealing with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other emotional dysregulation issues.

Please note that while I have previously served as a member of a stage 1 DBT Consultation Team, my current services are DBT informed.

  • In Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, we work together to access and reprocess traumatic memories, allowing you to reduce the emotional charge and replace negative beliefs with more positive, empowering ones. EMDR can be a path to relief from the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges.

By engaging in this gentle yet highly effective therapy, you'll find a safe space to explore and reframe your experiences, ultimately moving toward a brighter, more peaceful future.

  • Eclectic therapy is an approach to therapy that combines techniques and strategies from various therapeutic models and schools of thought. An eclectic approach does not adhere strictly to one particular therapeutic theory, but instead, draws on elements from different theories to tailor the approach to the specific needs of each client.

Common tools that I use through an eclectic therapy lens include active listening, unconditional positive regard, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, solution focused strategies, expressive therapy strategies, sandtray, and internal family systems strategies.
